Hello, I’m Kristin Clark

My goal is simple: Everyone should have a career they love.

Have you ever been fired from a job and smiled the whole way home? That was me.

Let me back up a little. I love working, ever since my first job scooping ice cream at 14, I was enamored with work. It was much more fun for me than learning in school.

After college, I had the good fortune to be hired into a marketing role and loved every minute of it. That is until I got my coveted role as a Vice President. Things changed. I hated going to work every day but didn’t know why.

While out of work, I was introduced to the CliftonStrengths program, and it all clicked. I was so unhappy with my work as a VP because I tried to be something I’m not.

I decided I needed to be a great strategic thinker. Guess what, I’m not! Yeah, I said it.

I had something even better. I was hired and promoted because I am good at getting groups of people to move forward quickly, and efficiently and enjoy working together to solve problems.

I didn’t realize that was my gift until I was given the language through CliftonStrengths.

My report described me so clearly it hit me to my core. At a time when I felt so defeated and unsure of myself, it gave me my confidence back and a new purpose. I just needed to figure out where to aim it.

Here was my big ah-ha moment!

At that time, my boys were starting to plan for college, and I realized there was a HUGE gap in the college planning process. Our school counselors and college consultants spend a lot of time helping teens get INTO college, but rarely are they helping them understand who they are as a person, why they want to go to college (or another path), and what they want as an end goal (a career path).

The result is teens are going to college on the ‘figure it out as you go’ plan. The statistics are not great. One that struck me is that 30% of students who go to college do not return after their freshman year. So now you have a kid who feels defeated AND has $25,000 worth of debt with nothing to show for it.

I knew this was a perfect time to introduce young adults to the CliftonStrengths program. To show them the gifts (their natural talents) they have to share with the world. So, I developed a signature formula to help students determine a career path and college major (or another path) based on their goals.

And I’m having a ball!

More About Kristin and her CliftonStrengths®

Creative

I've always enjoyed flexing my creative muscles. My happy place is helping a friend plan a party, transforming a room through color or helping people understand and use their Strengths.

My specialty is making it personal. The Strengths I use most here are - Individualization® & Arranger®

Spontaneous

My favorite things I've done have come from a random conversation and a quick YES....Let's do it! Whether starting a painting, climbing a mountain, planning a party, or running a half marathon, there is typically less talk about "Should we?" and more around "Let's make it happen!".

This one is easy - my Activator® helps me get things moving!

Truthful

Do not ask me a question if you don't want a truthful answer.

Significance® plays a big role in my life. I not only tell people what I think, I’m thankful when they give me authentic feedback too.

Loyal

I'm happiest with a small group of friends. Not everyone gets past the chit-chat stage - but once you're in, I'll fight to the death for you.

This stems more from my core values than my Strengths. But Harmony® helps me kick butt and take names while I stand up for my friends. Without ruffling feathers (too much) of course!
